" The City Council pulled
one over on the local media a couple years ago, claiming they were going
to paint smileys on all their police cruisers. But it was just an April
Fool's joke! The local newspaper reporter was not too happy. But to
show that they are good sports, the police department finally went ahead
and did it anyway. The department painted one
of their retired cruisers and they use it for
promotional purposes such as parades, etc. It even led the funeral
procession for "Mr. Smiley" Ralph Steinauser this past summer."

This smiley water tower can be found in Adair, Iowa, which is located along Interstate 80, midway between Omaha, Nebraska and Des Moines, Iowa. That must be one of the friendliest towns in the USA! I wonder if there are any smiley collectors in Adair??? |

There's an interesting story on the city's website that tells how it came to be.
